Metadata that Fits Your Research

KCWorks’s robust metadata options are based on DataCite schema, and includes on-demand instant access in a variety of other standard formats via UI and API. That means we can support almost any file size and type. Yes, you read that correctly.

KCWorks is built both for and by researchers, so we understand how important the little things are when uploading your work to a repository more than anyone. That’s why in KCWorks, you can choose from a wide variety of contributor roles (eg. editor, producer, committee manager, data manager, performer, choreographer) and subject categories.

Flexible, powerful file handling is at your fingertips with:

  • Multiple files per work: up to 100 files attached to one record
  • Up to 500 GB combined storage space per work, allowing storage of small research datasets
  • In place previewers for most file formats
  • Download a work’s files as a single zip archive

Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) for Everything

Every public work added to KCWorks is assigned a DataCite-registered DOI. This includes a “concept DOI” for the work as a whole that always points to its newest version, and a separate DOI for each version of the work you add within your record.

Interoperability & Powerful APIs

Academic work doesn’t exist in a vacuum, and we understand the importance of connectivity with other systems for dissemination and discoverability. KCWorks integrates with many tools, including Google Scholar, DataCite, and ORCID in order to ensure your digital projects reach the widest possible audiences.

And if you’re looking for even more interconnectivity, we integrate easily with powerful APIs like Rest API and OAH-PMH to make the process of importing and exporting data seamless.
